Stephen Daisley

Stephen Daisley was born in 1955, and grew up in remote parts of the North Island of New Zealand. He served for five years in an infantry battalion of the NZ Army, and has worked on sheep and cattle stations, on oil and gas construction sites and as a truck driver and a bar tender, among many other jobs. Stephen has degrees in writing and literature and lives in Western Australia with his wife and five children.

TRAITOR (2011 Text Publishing), was Stephen’s first novel and was the winner of the 2011 Australian Prime Minister’s Fiction Prize. COMING RAIN (2016 Text Publishing,) Stephen’s second novel won the fiction prize at the Ockham NZ Books Awards. This was followed by A BETTER PLACE (2023 Text Publishing)
