Amanda Lohrey is the winner of the 2021 Miles Franklin Award, as well as the Voss Literary Prize and the 2021 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for her book THE LABYRINTH. In 2023 Amanda published THE CONVERSION with Text Publishing.
She completed her education at the University of Tasmania before taking up a scholarship at the University of Cambridge. From 1988 to 1994 she lectured in writing and textual studies at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has held the position of lecturer in School of English, Media Studies and Art History at the University of Queensland in Brisbane in 2002, and joined the Australian National University School of Literature, Languages, and Linguistics as a visiting fellow in 2016.
Amanda’s acclaimed novels include CAMILLE’S BREAD, VERTIGO, THE MORALITY OF GENTLEMAN, as well as the award-winning short story collection READING MADAME BOVARY.
